While in architecture school at the University of Michigan, I met an art student who was studying graphic design in UM's School of Art.
I was entranced in two ways: we eventually married, and I followed her into art school at UM to study graphic design myself.
Over the following 20+ years, I've gained broad experience as a designer, art director, and manager not only at Hammond Design
but also at a variety of graphic design, architecture, publications and web development firms in Ann Arbor and Detroit. I've worked
on a wide range of project types, particularly for educational institutions, cultural organizations, and clients involved with various
aspects of the built environment. While each project is unique, my creative goals are always the same: a clear and thoughtful organization
of information, a meticulous attention to detail, and a compelling approach to concept, image and typography that is appropriate to the
audience and the client's communications objectives.
